Welcome to the City of South El Monte!

The City of South El Monte, incorporated in July 30, 1958, is located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, 7 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Today, this area has a healthy blend of diverse cultures and age groups, all working with the same dedication and community spirit that this city was founded upon. Residents and business owners are working together to make this an even better his community a better place to live and work. New parks are being built to serve the growing population with many active sports programs. A brand new Aquatic Center with three pools is located along the Tyler Avenue Heritage District, which includes community and senior centers, museums, and a public library.
